Sometimes it's the apparently small things.

I had been practising shi-ne for some time, several years, and never felt really comfortable with it.

I was at a teaching given by a Rinpoche who was not my root guru.

He did something that I have only rarely experienced. He walked around the room during the preliminary sitting session like a Zen teacher. He stood behind me and gently put one hand on my shoulder and the other on the small of my back and altered my posture just a tiny amount. It made a huge difference. Only literal hands-on instruction could have done it.

To all the 'outer' teachers..thank you.
