Due to causes, effects arise. These effects are mistaken by the mind as independent autonomous entities such as self, table, cloud and so forth.

It is the same with thoughts. Effects such as anger, lust and so forth are misperceived by the mind. Even the consciousness, the watcher, is merely an effect.

The essence of material phenomena is emptiness. Like water in multiple glasses is still all water, all emptinesses are the same. This is the Dharmadhatu.

The essence of non-material phenomena is emptiness. This is the Dharmakaya. The mind of the Buddha.

This emptiness of thoughts is perceived as a feeling of spaciousness and clarity. This is called ‘resting the mind in its natural state’.

Opinions?
