Everyone knows the story about Padmasambhava killing the minister's son with a trident.

Some versions say it was an accident, some say he knew the minister's son was evil and he only gave the appearance of it looking like an accident, but they don't say what the "evil" was exactly.

Ever since I read the story though, I couldn't help but think that it was very similar to Alexander killing Cleitus.

I wonder if the Alexander story, through a series of intermediaries, was the original motif for that episode in Padmsambhava's hagiography.
